Bush Insider Karl Rove Thinks Americans Are 'Tiring' Of Trump's Antics

Veteran Republican strategist Karl Rove worries President Donald Trump is tied to a losing strategy right now, but thinks it’s possible for him to sway public opinion in his direction before the 2026 midterm elections.

In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal published on Monday, Rove wrote that, “There are signs that the public is tiring of his hyperbole and insatiable desire for retribution. Increasingly, they may hear only the offensive or cruel things he says.”

“Has the president convinced himself that he doesn’t need to sell his policies and actions?” he asked. “It appears that he believes he can will people into agreeing with him by claiming his achievements are the biggest, best and most amazing in American history.”

Rove, who was a top adviser for President George W. Bush and is a frequent critic of President Trump, outlined how the White House could shift its focus to find more appeal with voters, going on to write that, “Americans would be much more likely to support Mr. Trump if he explained what he’s doing and asked for patience as his administration makes necessary changes.”

“But that isn’t his way,” he added.

“Presidents do best when they underpromise and overdeliver,” Rove continued. “The opposite—overpromising and underdelivering—angers voters. They often take out their anger at the ballot box.”

The numbers agree with the longtime GOP consultant’s sentiment. The president’s approval rating dipped to a term-two low of 36% in late November polling from Gallup.

Adding another complication into the mix, Rove also said the Trump administration’s continued blunders related to the late Jeffrey Epstein cannot be overstated.

“Many people feel the need to place him at the center of a worldwide conspiracy of wealthy, powerful people,” he continued, referring to the well-connected financier and convicted *** offender.

“These co-conspirators murdered him in jail, it’s said, because of the threat he posed to them,” he continued. “Mr. Trump’s failure to deliver the goods on this vast plot has undermined his followers’ confidence in his Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation.”
