Kamala Harris Raised Over $1 Billion In 3 Months Since Entering 2024 Race

Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign and affiliated party committees have raised more than $1 billion since she entered the race for the White House in late July, NBC News and The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The pace of Harris’ fundraising is historic and eye-popping. The $1 billion is more than rival GOP Donald Trump and his affiliated party committees have announced raising in all of 2024, according to the newspaper. The former president also declared his candidacy much earlier, in November 2022.

The campaign has not yet made the $1 billion haul public “out of concern that bragging about the gush of donations could diminish donor interest in the race’s final weeks,” the Times wrote.

Last month, Harris’ campaign announced it had taken in $361 million in August — easily swamping the $130 million raised by Trump in the same period.

Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said at the time that the vice president’s candidacy has “galvanized a history-making, broad, and diverse coalition — with the type of enthusiasm, energy, and grit that wins close elections.”

The 2024 race remains very close less than four weeks until Election Day, and even a slight polling error could lead to a variety of unexpected outcomes. Trump and Harris are tied and within the margin of error in most polls of contested battleground states. In national surveys, however, Harris maintains a slight lead over Trump and has seen her approval ratings on critical issues like the economy improve in recent weeks.
