MTG Snuffs Out 2028 Rumor With Rant About ‘Political Industrial Complex’

Not only does Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) swear she’s not going to run for president after announcing she will resign from Congress ― she also thinks people who believe the rumors are “being lulled everyday into psychosis by the Political Industrial Complex.”

The lawmaker went on two extended rants over the weekend on two social media accounts to swat down ruminations about her political future, and she emphatically denied interest in higher office.

In the first, published Sunday on her personal X account, formerly Twitter, Greene called Time magazine’s report that she’s considering a 2028 presidential run “a complete lie.”

“I’m not running for President and never said I wanted to and have only laughed about it when anyone would mention it,” she wrote.

“If you fell for those headlines, you’re still being lulled everyday into psychosis by the Political Industrial Complex that always has an agenda when it does something like this.”

Greene proceeded to blame “the Complex” for distracting Americans from solving problems such as the nation’s debt, the pending insolvency of Social Security, the health care system, taxes, immigration and American entanglements abroad.

“If you all are still fighting each other about the shiny objects the Political Industrial Complex blinds you with everyday and not paying attention to the damage that has been done, and is still being done, then Americans will never join together to save themselves,” she wrote.

Greene followed up that rant with a second one on her professional X page Monday, albeit with less substance than her first.

“Everyone just runs their mouths but results are the only thing that matter to the American people,” she wrote. “Smears, lies, attacks, and name calling is childish behavior, divisive, and bad for our country. Memes and red meat rants do nothing.”

Her comments are not without a heavy dose of irony: Until recently, the fervent MAGA Republican often used smears, lies, attacks, name calling and “red meat rants” to advance her own agenda.

In past years, the Republican has supported false claims that the Parkland and Sandy Hook school shootings were staged, “liked” Facebook posts that called for the execution of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) while Pelosi was House speaker, embraced QAnon, spoke at a white nationalist conference and spread an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that a Jewish space laser sparked 2018′s deadly California wildfires.

In a shocking development Friday, Greene said she plans to resign from Congress in January amid an acrimonious fallout with President Donald Trump.

Other House Republicans may follow.

Several senior Republicans told Punchbowl News over the weekend they see the writing on the wall.

“This entire White House team has treated ALL members like garbage. ALL. And Mike Johnson has let it happen because he wanted it to happen,” one anonymous source told Punchbowl’s Jake Sherman.

“More explosive early resignations are coming. It’s a tinder box. Morale has never been lower. Mike Johnson will be stripped of his gavel and they will lose the majority before this term is out.”
