Republican Calls Dems '******* ********' After He’s Silenced At Hearing For Causing Chaos

Thankfully for Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), this was a hearing, and not a town hall

The GOP lawmaker went off on Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) after he stormed out of a House Judiciary subcommittee hearing about immigration policy Tuesday.

"Frankly, Jamie Raskin and Pramila Jayapal are ******* assholes. Their conduct in that hearing was disgraceful," Lawler told TMZ outside of the hearing.

However, it was Lawler himself who started the whole kerfuffle.

The New York Republican was invited to the hearing as a guest to introduce a witness — the mother of Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old college student who was allegedly killed in Chicago in March by a Venezuelan with no legal status in the U.S., Politico reports

Instead, Lawler launched a politically charged anti-immigration rant in which he dragged the deaths of Minneapolis protesters Renee Good and Alex Pretti —  American citizens slain at the hands of federal agents — into a messy argument about the "consequence" of sanctuary cities.

Lawler was told several times by Jayapal, the ranking member of the committee, during his diatribe that he was there to give a simple introduction, not to read a long-winded statement.

Yet, each time Lawler was warned, he'd ignore it and jump right back into his blasting of Democrats for being more outraged about Good and Pretti than they are about American citizens killed by illegal migrants.

"While some of my colleagues may not want to hear the truth, the same outrage you feel about Renee Good and Alex Pretti, you should feel about Sheridan Gorman and Laken Riley and every angel family in this country," Lawler said at the hearing.

This remark seemed to trigger a response from Raskin.

"I do feel that outrage!" Raskin said, prompting Lawler to shout back, "You do not!"

The two lawmakers then became embroiled in a shouting match, and pure chaos erupted.

Jayapal eventually shut it down and called on Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.), the chair, to suspend Lawler's comments.

"Thanks to Mr. Lawler's outrageous outburst, we will not allow this to happen again," Jayapal said. "This was an agreement between the chair and the ranking member. And unfortunately, you're not able to control your members."

Lawler reiterated the argument he made in the hearing to TMZ, adding that Good and Pretti "should be alive, they should not be dead.

"But the Minnesota Police Department was prohibited from engaging in crowd control and traffic control by the feckless politicians," Lawler added, presumably referring to Democratic lawmakers in sanctuary cities such as New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D), who Lawler also called an "*******" to TMZ.

Lawler went on to say Democrats' sanctuary policies were the reason why the daughter of the witness he was supposed to introduce "was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant under the policies of the past administration that they supported."

Lawler insisted to TMZ that Raskin and Jayapal "should have allowed me to finish my statement and introduce my constituent.

"They would have been far better off just sitting there in silence than trying to interrupt and cause a scene," Lawler said.
