Trump news at a glance: Trevor Noah’s Grammys joke hit a sour note for Trump

South African comedian Trevor Noah told a joke as he hosted the Grammy awards on Sunday.

The former Daily Show host said the song of the year award was “a Grammy that every artist wants – almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton”.

At least one person watching was not amused: the president of the United States.

Donald Trump hit back on his Truth social platform, calling Noah a “poor, pathetic, talentless dope of an MC”, and adding that he would instruct lawyers who will be “suing him for plenty$”.

Both presidents’ names appear multiple times in tranches of papers known as the Epstein files, which include details of parties at Epstein’s private Caribbean island in which children were sexually abused. Trump and Clinton were both former friends of Epstein but have always denied wrongdoing or knowledge of Epstein’s sexual abuse.

The sentiment at the music awards appeared firmly against Trump and his administration. Numerous artists wore anti-ICE pins, and several winners called out Trump’s anti-immigrant sentiment in Minnesota and elsewhere.
