Woman missing in South Carolina after leaving Planet Fitness and walking toward wooded area

Police are searching for a woman who was reported missing last week after leaving a gym in Lexington, South Carolina.

Elena Katherine Moore, 39, was last seen leaving the Planet Fitness at 560 Whiteford Way on Thursday and walking toward a wooded area behind a Lowe's Home Improvement store, according to the Lexington Police Department. She was wearing an olive green zip up hoodie and black athletic pants.

Moore is described as a white woman with brown hair and brown eyes, who is 5 feet and 7 inches tall and 120 pounds, police said.

Moore was reported missing on Friday by someone who told police that she frequented that Planet Fitness gym.

"Further investigation revealed that she had signed in at that location on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at approximately 6:40 p.m.," police said. "No further contact with the missing woman has been reported."

Officers responded to the area to search for her with the help of a drone, but did not find her. Police said there is no vehicle in Moore's possession, and it's not clear if she has her mobile phone.

On Monday, officers again conducted a search for Moore in the wooded area behind the Planet Fitness and Lowe's with help from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, Lexington County Fire Services and other local agencies.

"No trace of Ms. Moore was found during the operation," police said of the search.

Police are continuing to search for Moore. Anyone with information about her is asked to reach out to Lexington police by calling (803) 358-7271 or writing to [email protected].
